Is Consciousness Just a Brain Thing?

I think the brain is more like a radio than a generator. It tunes into something. Shapes it, filters it, gives it a local address. But the signal? That might be way older and way wider than any single skull. The real question isn't where consciousness lives. It's why we assumed it needed a house at all.
